Several major state and county maintained arterial roadways bisect the City providing additional traffic routes. One of these arteries, State Route 366 also known as Watson Rd, is home to the City's Commercial Shopping District. The City's location near Interstate 44 provides easy access to Downtown St. Louis and Lambert International Airport in less than thirty minutes.

The City's residential areas offer a wide selection of single-family housing stock, the majority of which was built in the mid to late 1960's. These homes have consistently shown an impressive ability to maintain and increase their value as they age and are located in stable, safe neighborhoods. In 1997, the City successfully annexed an additional 1,600 residents residing in an unincorporated area to the southeast. The City has begun to experience an increase in "infill" pocket subdivisions of five to twenty housing units with market prices exceeding $400,000.

The majority of the City of Crestwood is served by the Lindbergh School District. Small portions are located within the Affton & Webster Groves Districts.

The district is classified AAA by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Due to a large commercial tax base (a significant portion of which is located within Crestwood) the District maintains the lowest property tax rate in St. Louis County. Additionally, the Lindbergh District is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and is a member of the College Board Association.
